September 14, 2007: Consultation on Darfur, Denver, Colorado, USA
Our ‘Denver Project’ will serve as the official launch-project for the Darfur Consultations Program. This project is intended to explore the scholastic aspects of conflict resolution and their role in conflict resolution strategies. ATA currently has several researchers involved in this project. Some areas of exploration include 1) The role of the African Union in peace negotiations, 2) US and UN policies on peace and a negotiated settlement, 3) Sudanese policy under the Bashir government and the growing opposition, 4) The international obligation to protect, and 5) Ethnicity as a basis of rebellion and division in Darfur. Consistent with ATA’s mission, the outcomes of this research will be combined with perspectives of those involved in seeking a solution to the Darfur crisis. ATA is in dialogue with several Sudanese academics and politicians with regards to the ‘Denver Project.’

Walk for Sudan, October 2008
The Walk for Sudan aims to raise funds for projects supporting the people and country of Sudan, which is recovering from 20 years of civil war. The Walk for Sudan symbolizes unity as traditional rivals come together for a common cause. Sudanese from various tribes and students from different school and districts will all join forces in a spirit of cooperation. Proceeds from this 5K Walk/Run will support Denver-based, Sudanese-related organizations. For more information please visit: http://walkforsudan.org

Consultations on Darfur, Washington, D.C., USA, November 2008
Our Washington, D.C. project is intended to serve as a culminating event where the outcomes of our three prior consultations will be presented. In addition, ATA hopes to use the Washington, D.C. project to introduce alternative approaches that may enhance the work of non-governmental organizations involved in advocating for an end to the Darfur crisis. The final outcome of this and our other consultations is meant to buttress the work of NGOs as well governmental and international governmental entities.
